Explain about PBX:

The PBX full form – Private Branch Exchange, is a telephone exchange that operates inside a private sector, which provides CO (central office) type specification and function. This PBX will connect CO trunk lines and it provides intercommunication to internal telephones within the organization to a host.

Here, the PBX will route calls between telephones within the organization automatically, without going out to the CO. Moreover, it can connect calls to destinations wherever outside of the organization by routing the calls onto the public telephone network (PSTN) through the CO.

Features of Private Branch Exchange (PBX):

The PBX becomes an essential feature in the business sectors, because of its cost and impractical characteristic of having thousands of directly connected telephone lines. Instead, by offering the business its own small private telephone exchange a Telecom provider could simply connect a trunk link to the premises to connect their central office to the private branch exchange.

The benefit to the organization was, that the internal calls could be set up using a primitive extension automatically. And never need to go out onto the PSTN because it provides easy usage and huge cost-effectiveness. These characteristics of convenience and money saving were the key factors for initializing to have a PBX full form is Private Branch Exchange. In addition, it also has other advantages like increasing its functionalities and flexibility that could be offered via Telecom service provider CO exchange.

It simulated many of the characteristics like flexibility, easy access, and cost savings of a PBX but without the capital-output and ongoing maintenance costs. This PEX makes virtual accessible technology easy for smaller business sectors too.
