More about the Teacher Eligibility Test
TET full form is Teacher Eligibility Test. It is a state-level teaching test that is needed to teach in North Carolina. Candidates need to have at least a secondary education degree or have been determined eligible by the NC State Board of Education. The test may also be required for other professions such as special education, music and art, physical education, and school psychologists. If you are currently employed as an educator in North Carolina but your university did not award your degree from the NC State Board of Education, you might need to take this test.
How does it work?
TET is made up of one area of academic subject and at least one area of academic content. The test score must be at least a passing score. If you passed your field test, you are eligible to teach in this subject. The grade for the state test is included in your overall score. A passing score is a four to six scale and candidates must rank at least an average of four on their test to qualify. This test is administered in June and October of each year. It is a computerised assessment that tests reading, writing, maths and science skills with multiple-choice questions. The Board has many requirements that need to be met before you can register for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET).
What are the fields available?
TET full form is Teacher Eligibility Test. There are three kinds of fields: English, mathematics, and social sciences. Each one is further divided into multiple subjects. For instance, mathematics has algebra I, algebra II, geometry and trigonometry. English language arts has reading, writing and communication. Other fields include science (biology, chemistry and physics), foreign language (Spanish I or II), history (world history I or II), economics and geography. The social sciences field is made up of psychology and sociology.
